Hurst is a small, family oriented congregation where everybody knows your name and anyone can participate.

Though small, we still strive to make a difference within the Chattanooga community by sharing the love of Christ through its mission ministries.  We are a bible believing and bible teaching church striving to multiply the witnesses of the Gospel as Jesus has commanded us to do.  Hurst believes that for God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son and whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.  Hurst believes that Jesus is the risen Savior and through Him salvation is offered to the "whosoever."

About the Pastor:
Rev. Charles H. Smelley, Jr. is a licensed local pastor within the United Methodist Church.  He served as Pastor at Randolph UMC in South Pittsburgh, TN for 5 years and over 4 years at Hurst. Pastor Smelley is married to Karen Cooke Smelley and is the father of 2 sons and 1 daughter.  Pastor Smelley is also employed full-time as an Engineering Manager at Berry Global, Inc. in Dalton-GA.
